Excuse the pronunciation, at number 5 we have Alejandro Amenábar. Most known for the spooky score to The Others, this multi talented filmmaker has also composed for movies by other directors.
At number 4 it’s Clint Eastwood. Yes, that Clint Eastwood. Hollywood’s favourite cowboy can now be found behind the camera and often behind a piano as composer for his own movies.
Behind South Park, there’s Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Parker in particular is an accomplished musician and songwriter. The South Park movie is essentially a feature-length musical and he’s had similar success with Book Of Mormon.
Known for his silent comedies, Charlie Chaplin is credited as composer for many of his later films. In 1973 he won the Oscar for Original Dramatic Score, beating off two other movie scores by John Williams.
Of course at number one it has to be John Carpenter, the horror director who’s famed for his music as much as his movies. Halloween is everybody’s favourite, but much of his back catalogue is equally as horrifying.
